Went to the corner store today to buy a 9v battery and pick up a 6 pack of beer.

My card was refused for payment TWICE.

I have at most times very little cash on me, I had just enough for either the battery or the six pack.

My wife needed the 9V battery, I wanted the 6 pack. hmmm... What to do...

I went with the 6 pack.

Then I get home, check out my bank, and apparently EVERYONE'S debit cards have been set to 0 buying power.

I have this friend, used to work with me. We keep in contact, I go over to his house, mostly he comes over to mine to suck back a few beers. Over the holidays I worry about him, so he ends up here for Christmas or New Years for dinner.

Anyway, for 5 years or so, every year, he borrows my hedge trimmer. This time it died while he had it.

I keep telling it it doesn't matter, the thing was 13 years old, made in China. The amazing part is that it lasted this long.

He's still ashamed that it was in his possession when it broke, he wants to pay me something.

So I said OK, cost price, depreciation, my hours of usage, yours, I figure, if my calculations are right, you owe me 45 cents.
