I have this friend, used to work with me. We keep in contact, I go over to his house, mostly he comes over to mine to suck back a few beers. Over the holidays I worry about him, so he ends up here for Christmas or New Years for dinner.
Anyway, for 5 years or so, every year, he borrows my hedge trimmer. This time it died while he had it.
I keep telling it it doesn't matter, the thing was 13 years old, made in China. The amazing part is that it lasted this long.
He's still ashamed that it was in his possession when it broke, he wants to pay me something.
So I said OK, cost price, depreciation, my hours of usage, yours, I figure, if my calculations are right, you owe me 45 cents.
I don't care if I'm ignored... the final outcome will justify my actions and speak for themselves
