Exactly they sold the corn they borrowed and are paying the farmer interest but still owe him the corn. Now they need to buy it back from someone and give it back to the farmer they borrowed it from before the drought hits and prices explode

Xster they haven't made their money until 18 million shares are returned. When news hits they will need to borrow more shares and sell or buy at market.
