I was wondering about Gromwell root's affect on our digestive system since one of our main Digestive enzymes is Protease and I wondered if Gromwell root , being a 3CL Protease inhibitor would have any adverse affect on our digestion.

I did receive 2 separate answers telling me there would be none with respect to Protease but was never sure of the reliability of those answers.

DDD Do you know if Protease digestive enzymes in our bodies, which are important to our health, would be affected by a 3CL Protease Inhibitor or would the 3CL protease inhibitor ignore the protease in our bodies.

I have asked this a few times and had only 2 answers saying that there would be no adverse reaction but not sure of the reliability of the answers, there was no detail.

"Proteases are released by the pancreas into the proximal small intestine, where they mix with proteins already denatured by gastric secretions and break them down into amino acids, the building blocks of protein, which will eventually be absorbed and used throughout the body."

"What are the benefits of protease?
The top protease benefits include its ability to allow for the digestion of proteins and the absorption of amino acids, boost immune function, promote cardiovascular health, accelerate tissue repair and possibly prevent colon cancer."
