Some of the current optical transceivers can run $5K - $20K based on 100-800GbE. Add in the value of increased performance (future proofing) and tremendous power reduction, the "goo" has to be priced at a couple hundred bucks per module. The power savings alone over a 5 year TCO would likely show a massive return!
