Multiple people have asked him, he's not going to answer.

My guess is that DI neither said nor implied anything remotely close to:

"The next big pieces of information will be publication and MAA submission or at least acceptance of submission"

and the poster has no way of backing this claim up.

DI has told me he doesn't like when people bring his conversations to the message boards because the information is almost always relayed incorrectly. This is likely a case of that.
