I think ego size was a problem throughout this saga (from all sides). Ironically, a criminal verdict of guilty would set a trust free from its managers (if unitholders sue) which would decrease discount vs nav. such clause is a usual one in partnership agreements, so it should be in a trust as well.
The people running UDF IV were found guilty of securities fraud. Their case against Bass is gone as a result, imo.
If Bass did something illegal he is still exposed to charges from the SEC or DOJ. If they don’t pursue anything then I think we have seen the end of litigation and we now wait to see who is going to control UDF and what remains in terms of value.
Unless, of course UDF IV decided to start litigation against the people who were convicted of securities fraud while running the company. I could see that as future litigation.
