There's a lot of very smart people split on whether patents or trade secrets are better. I'm not one of the "very smart" ones... but I suspect you're not either. Not clear at all, and not material yet in my opinion.
SC8. May 24, 2021 is hardly "very dated". and it is enough validation to me that the company has, at the very minimum, at least thought about IP security. maybe that's not enough for you, but for me I'm satisfied with whatever they choose.
