I'm willing to give them more time to 'put up'. I just want the over-promising to 'shut up'. It gives one the impression that the CEO either:

a. Has no clue about when or what amount of revenues are coming
b. Is flat out lying (not what I think is happening)
c. Is inexperienced at managing expectations (bingo)
d. Read more Machiavelli than Dale Carnegie
