"Nobody can perfectly call a top or a bottom." Actually many (most?) people get such calls 180 degrees wrong. They buy at market tops and sell in panic around bottoms.
Was thinking about buying a little more gold/silver. Where do you buy yours?
The most helpful single graphic in finance. It's getting old now (no doubt "Energy" has fallen since 2013) but its lesson may be timeless: The average investor really sucks. I have a newer version of this study from a different source and it shows the same "Suckiness." Studies from other countries have shown roughly the same thing, too.
Why the terrible performance for "Average Investor?" Overtrading, buying scammy or faddish stocks, and especially buying at tops and selling at bottoms. Easiest and most reliable way to move "leftward" is with an S&P 500 index fund or a broad portfolio of quality stocks run like an index fund. i.e. Many diversified stocks and almost no trading.
