"We are waiting for the science to eventually percolate and produce the TRUTH. (IN OUR LIFETIME).
This weekend my wife and I were out of town playing tourist. After driving then being on our feet all Saturday, we settled in to our lodging and turned on the TV. Predictably, nothing good on so we left it on the "Dateline" channel and watched the murder-mystery. Now "Dateline" is pretty cheesy in its presentation (half-hour of info de-condensed into 2 hrs), even though there's nothing cheesy about murder.
Anyway, the story was about a young lady's murder at the hands of her boyfriend. The snag was there was no physical evidence linking the guy to the murder scene, yet the cops, detectives, victim's mom, etc, all 'knew' the guy was lying and was guilty. For 21 years(!) the guy's family members propped him up supporting his lies, but for all those years a dogged investigator refused to give up on the case despite dead-end after dead-end. Finally, as the DNA science and behavioral analysis techniques advanced farther and farther over the years, they were able to confidently take the case to the DA (who had refused it twice before) and get a conviction. Life in the can for the loser.
One thing the investigator said stuck out. He said 12-15 years into the case (paraphrasing) - 'time was our friend because we knew we were right...science was going to keep advancing, the holes in the guy's alibi were going to keep unraveling, and the truth WAS going to come out.'
Immediately the Anavex saga came to mind. We are in precisely the same situation. It's only a matter of time. I realize millions do not have the luxury of time at this moment, and will fail to benefit from 2-73. Nevertheless, hundreds of millions eventually will. We will win.
