I agree, HDG- better to fight as T2 than T3 but the role of generic coupons is a bit murkier.
Quote: Generics can't use coupons Are you sure? Meanwhile, generic drug companies rarely offer coupons it is available across (e.g.) RxSaver. Is not it?
Rx saver appears to be a PBM that gains money by steering patients to particular pharmacies that pay them a cut. The pharmacy ends up paying the PBM for the business sent their way. How does this exactly help Amarin's cause? I see Tier 3 more as a psychological financial deterrent to prescribers and patients seeking the drug from the third party payor--it's like they are saying to their enrolees we know that this saves lives but we don't really care because we are going to discourage it for our financial reasons! Amarin will have eventually to negotiate next with PBM's that subvert or manipulate the pricing structure, that Amarn negotiates with third-party payors. This applies also to the PBM's that serve the Medicare part D plans, unfortunately... The PBM are not the knights in shining armour their drug cards appear to make them out to be. They are the biggest anti-competitive monopoly masquerading as a drug price alleviation mechanism. The foxes are guarding the hen house of equitable drug pricing and getting paid from every angle to play the middle man with no integrity. HK
