Re ARDX This would be a great drug if not for the diarrhea / loose stool issue and the problem that creates for dialysis patients trying to make it thru the first 4 days or so before this issue resolves

Here is a link to show you how difficult and time consuming ...and the risks ...of stopping treatment so that patient can use the bath room . This applies to in clinic dialysis not home dialysis

http://www.bcrenal.ca/resource-gallery/Documents/HD_Circle_Protocol_for_Temporary_Interruption_of_Dialysis.pdf

Most in this trial were probably reasonably healthy for dialysis patients . The patients my wife has usually have multiple comorbidity's . They all hate the current phosphorus meds ....that is certain. How many can make it thru the transition and still maintain their dialysis schedule is the question ...plus the cost .
Expect a slow adoption as the clinic will not want all their patients trying this at once for obvious reasons

Owned FGEN many years ago but have not followed it closely lately tho I understand the FDA wants more data ?...usually not a good sign

Cara ...Used to own also . Pruritus ( itching ) is a real issue for some of my wife patients ...maybe 15% ...and this drug will be used . She also considered it would be easy to administer .
Will do some DD on it .

Thx for the tip on CFRX ...may sell some and hold rest thru interim as a spec

HDG. Some follow up from my wife re her dialysis patients
“ some of our patients have real issues with constipation ... so we would try this new phosphorus lowering drug on those first.... if they also have poorly controlled phosphorous levels “
So U may want to DD % of dialysis patients with this issue .
