Ishould-

1. Get your doctor to write you a prescription - have them write DAW1 (this means no generic substitution).

Louieblouie is the board expert on how to convince doctors to write prescriptions, she knows all the tricks. She may tell you about milkshakes or fish burps :-)

2. Get a Vascepa Savings Card: https://www.vascepa.com/getting-started/savings-card/

$150 off per month (with or without insurance)

3. If you don't want to deal with the physical pharmacy, you can do it through Amazon Pharmacy. I think they're up and running:

https://pharmacy.amazon.com/

Put Vascepa in the search field.

Question for the board re: cash pay prescription. Is there a way to get Vascepa without having to go through my insurance and be subject to denial, or worse, getting gV?

I told my GP that after much of my adult life knocking back handfuls of ibuprofen, I wanted an alternative arthritis pain relief that was more benign. Kaiser's off label was gabapentin. I told him that I had the same conceptual issues with the protracted use of an anti seizure medication as I did with ibuprofen. I said I had tried OV EPA 500 and gotten very good results and that although Kaiser would not cover V, I would. He did a little research, cut me a script, and so did his replacement a few years later. Post my MI, Kaiser is covering it through Medicare Part D.
