“The consensus is drilling permits will continue”

That is correct spec, as it stands now BSEE and the BOEM have not received official notice down from the DOI on any decisions including moratoriums on drilling.

Stakeholders “Lessees and Operators” are continuing to have their permits processed by their local BSEE and BOEM Regional Offices. It’s still business as usual at the BOEM AND BSEE on permitting.”

Excerpt (1) from Gulfslope’s 10/30/2020 Press Release:
“Gulfslope’s Exploration Plan related to the re-drilling of the Company’s Tau prospect was approved by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management “BOEM” on July 16, 2020. The Bureau of Safety Environmental Enforcement “BSEE” has completed its initial review of the Company’s Application for Permit to Drill (APD).”

Excerpt (2)
“Gulfslope anticipates receiving final approval once a definitive Spud date has been established.”

Interesting to see in the 1/27/2021 OPEC article linked above how “Oil and Gas Combined are forecast to still supply over 50% of the world’s energy needs by 2045, with Oil around 27% and Gas at 25%.”
“The share of Electric Vehicles (EV) in the total road transportation fleet is projected to expand around 16% by 2045.” That means by 2045 Combustion Vehicles (CV) will still account for the majority of the total road transportation fleet at 84%.

Fossils fuels will be here for a while folks,
