According to info I gathered (I’ll try to find it again and post a link), the drilling permit process has changes to the approval procedures

There is a final approval stage that has now been shifted to appointees of the current administration

For existing leases, the consensus is that drilling permits will continue to be approved except in controversial areas, mostly fracking and arctic related

GOM existing leases shouldn’t be hampered
