Great read on the bmg play with apples midframe josh, when I read the description from the design guide it made a lot of sense, after all we were waiting for 2020 5G - there’s one issue I have, how will they relay this information to the public/retail investors? when those numbers come out they will shatter any expectations...
Ok that’s great info. That antenna slot has to be strong and transparent to signals. Otherwise bendgate! Well done! Strong possibility of liquidmetal. I still have hopes of the midframe and Face ID brackets being liquidmetal as well. Can’t quit thinking about the flatness article for the midframe and the 16 cavity mold for the Face ID
From the article, it seems to me the suppliers were not expecting the use of liquid metal in the phones, but instead in the headphones. "Some domestic suppliers have repeatedly suggested to "Smart Things" that this series of Apple headsets will use brand new liquid metal materials."
These Airpods Studio were not released at the recent event and are expected to be released later this month or next. Possibly with airtags.
So in listening to the suppliers (who seem to know the most) perhaps we should be expecting BMG to be used in the headphones. This would be smaller parts and smaller volume than the phones, but still would be a lift to LQMT. With earning in early November, it will be interesting to see if Apple does another product release (probably without fanfare) before earnings.
great research/facts on the 5g mmwave cutout likelihood of also being bmg
find it unbelievable apple is risking another ‘your holding it wrong’ debacle unless the manufacturing volume was not yet ready and/or apple thinks the slow 5g mmwave rollout by telcos won’t expose the flaw with its stopgap measure which gives apple suppliers another year to get ready for the all bmg phone thats rumored to be completely portless.
for now the cutout port allows apple to launch a 5g phone so it dosnt look like its loosing/inferior to other smartphone manufactures when it comes to 5g phones.
even if its only for the u.s. market most customers will only remember that apple has launched a 5g phone and its the telcos that have let them down with the 5g rollout.
edit forgot to mention another reason could be apples aip was not ready
