For normal presentations, one submits an abstract then it is either accepted or not.
But for plenary, the conference chair invites the speaker because she is a big shot in the field.

It does state on the SNO announcement of the event that Linda Liau is a "live abstract presenter". That description seems to indicate that November 20th is when the abstract will first be presented.
