Hard to believe that she ruled the way she did in that other case - there is no comparison to having to visit two machines in order to pay for something and also get cash vs. having one machine do both - she said having to take one drug, V, instead of L + statin was an advantage for AMRN - how is that much different? And very few POS systems that take debit cards allow you to withdraw cash at the same time - the only place I know I can do that is at Giant, where the POS machine is dual use, also an ATM - that's where I always get cash, not at the bank or another ATM. How can such a delightful and convenient machine not deserve a patent? I'd bet that only one company makes those machines too - Dayton's National Cash Register Corp (NRC) used to utterly dominate that sector.
