Oh my! After 50 years they have some breakthrough research! Now let's see if in the next 10-20 years they can turn that into a commercially viable product

I have it straight from one of the foremost leading authorities in photonics quote “
I looked into silicon emitters about a decade ago, and Germanium compounds even then seemed to be the best route for this. Having said that, I very much doubt the performance of a silicon based emitter once it gets built will even come close to match that of InP or GaAs today in commercial activity. “unquote
As you know EO polymers outperform InP, GaAs and silicon today.
