tasty - I have a couple of phD brother in laws in the area of immuno-oncology research, one who works in the NIH. my wife's nephew is also a phD researcher at Merck. spoke to all, and a couple of them staying at my house over weekend. had a wonderful conversation with them till 2am last night about the fundamentals of the incredibly complicated and wonderful immune system within us in general, etc..

their outlook: all 3 believe we will dodge this particular bullet but it will take some time - in the broader perspective of historical pandemics, covid19 is a pussycat (his word). but like fire or water, if you disrespect this disease it will get you with a vengence. I absolutely concur - italy is a shitshow because they disrepected the gravity of the situation. Spain is even less excusable - they knew what was going on in italy. DISRESPECT. in our case, the lack of testing was/is a shitshow, no doubt and must be investigated at a much later date. meanwhile, however, I believe our society & fed & local govts now get it - to each man & woman we are now mobilized - and that will be our saving grace.

AMRN might/might not get banged around for a while but eventually it will soar - yes some short term setbacks for 99% of us corporations affected one way or another & we are no different; we may end up with a milder type of recession perhaps but that is ok - MUCH OF IT HOPEFULLY HAS BEEN PRICED IN ALREADY; time will tell;

but if you are a longer term holder, the day to day assessments are of limited value. the short-term gamesmanship/trading that Kiwi's assessment might implicitly encourage amongst some is a very dangerous one especially given the upcoming trial outcome. Makes no sense.

Years ago I traveled north of Pisa.

It was winter, a rainy and cloudy day and I had an Italian
interpreter/driver. We came to an area where the highway was
above the tree line. Because it was winter, there were no leaves on the trees.
I began to notice that under many of the
trees there were families clustered around a fire. Above
them in the branches there were sheets of plastic which
diverted some of the weather.

A few miles further along the highway I began to see a
strange site. There were roadside rests(?) in which I
would see either a Mercedes vehicle or a child sitting in
the mud and rain.....? I asked the driver "what is this?"
He said..."this is the highway of sorrow"..."these
children are selling themselves so that their families
under the trees can eat!"...………………

Two nights later, I had dinner with a group of 7 other
American people in the construction industry. The dinner
tab was $21,000.00. This was 1987....two different worlds!

Italy is a very different place than what you see on
the "Travel Channel"....

Efficiency has nothing to do with the spread of Covid-19
....a lot of what is happening is just "natural selection".
Italy's problem is that it has a lot of
vulnerable people......those who were living in poverty
and now the waves of raft and boat "immigrants". IMO

TaTE@ The only logic explanation about Italy - is to 'go backwards' from the number of Deaths (right now 1808 people) and most experts now say that the 'deathrate is somewhere between 1.0 - 0.1%:

So if we say deathrate 1% (1800 death) - that means that 180.000 people has been infected (not 25.000 the officiel number)

In Italy they newer found 'patient zero'- so they in reality 'have no idea' when it started.

American experts now says that the outbreak in China - most likely started late oktober 2019. Might very well be' that outbreak in Italy started shortly there after - but that they only realized what was going on - when they heard about Wuhan in China.
