I agree. There would be no travel restrictions and quarantines if this was just a flu. There is zero reason to risk the economic fallout of these restrictions unless they feel it was necessary.
Not sure where the 80 times more likely to perish comes from. Could be true - I don’t know. I understand the need to quarantine , I’ve just always had an issue with the markets knee jerk reaction to everything from hurricanes in the Caribbean to revolutions in South America. Yes, the flu vaccine is hit or miss because of the different strains and mutation. But, how do we know a mutated strain next year won’t be capable of killing off the entire population? Should we quarantine at the beginning of each flu season until we know it’s ok?
