I think she is bright enough- but Mayor Pete is likely the smartest- literally- of all of the candidates.

As far as Warren not wanting to lay out her plan for paying for Medicard for all- there may be a method to her madness there. The question is always "Will you raise taxes to pay for this" If she says "yes" - she has just given the GOP a hammer to hit with. I expect her staff told her before the debate "Say whatever EXCEPT do not say you are going to raise taxes".

I'm not buying what Warren is selling. She is not addressing the deficit and how that gets resolved. And I don't see how her plan lowers the deficit either. The numbers simply don't work.

At some point we have to pay the piper. And that would be all of us. If her idea is for all the giveaways and tax the wealthy to pay for it she still hasn't managed to explain how she manages the budget.

For some reason Warren was not prepared for questions on how to pay for her Medicare for All plan, which surprised me. I'm sure she will be better prepared at the next debate.

Well, Pete's brought that up in the past. And so have other people. I think it's not so much that she's unprepared, but that she just doesn't want to answer. Because she WOULD have to raise taxes on the middle class as well as the rich. Maybe in the end, the amount they'd save on Medicare would make the additional tax worthwhile, and in the end they'd still be paying less than they do now.

But she knows that isn't an explanation she could offer in the amount of time she has in these debates. So maybe that's why she's deflecting. But that could easily be fixed; she could just offer her explanation in some other context, and then refer to that explanation when asked.
