For some reason Warren was not prepared for questions on how to pay for her Medicare for All plan, which surprised me. I'm sure she will be better prepared at the next debate.
Well, Pete's brought that up in the past. And so have other people. I think it's not so much that she's unprepared, but that she just doesn't want to answer. Because she WOULD have to raise taxes on the middle class as well as the rich. Maybe in the end, the amount they'd save on Medicare would make the additional tax worthwhile, and in the end they'd still be paying less than they do now.
But she knows that isn't an explanation she could offer in the amount of time she has in these debates. So maybe that's why she's deflecting. But that could easily be fixed; she could just offer her explanation in some other context, and then refer to that explanation when asked.
