TH ~~~ That was my first duty station after Aviation School in Memphis.

I loved that base ---- 19-20 yr. old with the entire world at the doorstep. Fell in love with California, met one of my lifetime buddies (still is and living near Strathmore) and began a journey which would take me around the world !

Lee Harvey Oswald was stationed at El Toro and was court-martialed for shooting himself in the arm.

Last time I really looked back, saw videos of the base that had gone to total waste. A lot of HEALTH ISSUES stemming from ground pollution, etc.

If I knew then what I knew now ---- (mid-65), I would have bought as much real estate as I could stomach ---- and just lay back and laugh at Warren Buffet! ;-)

Watching Black Hawks landing on a high rise in downtown Miami repeatedly was something to see, though I think the officer who ordered this may have been nuts.
