There will be a secondary anyway, if the results are positive.
The ATM is not a big deal, IMO, if there is no big secondary before the results.
Important question is: does the management know the preliminary results from the sites, or not.

Issuing an ATM just before an event that determines if the company lives or dies is troublesome.

Fear not!

The odds are that the company "lives" and will give us a very good ROI.

I fear this is not the right kind of investment for you, you might want to go for the energy sector, or commodities.
