Finally!!! Truth speaks to the false claims of it being "Chemical free"

Actually they might be smart to use a separate electrolysis unit with non sacrificial electrodes, to make the chlorine and cycle it on and off to maintain the bulk chlorine residual level in a safe range as the chlorine demand changes (when feeding for instance).


They would also be super smart to use less chlorine by using ozone to better disinfect the water leaving the filters that returns to the shrimp tanks and reduce the needed chlorine residuals like most of the worlds major water supplies (in the US anyway) did the last 30 years to reduce the amount of cancer causing chloramines in the water.

But yes some chlorine is also produced by the EC units. It can probably limited using the sacrificial plates like iron or aluminum.

Since aluminum floc is used in pretreatment of most surface drinking water supplies, my bet would be that they are using aluminum and not iron. Iron would be a bad choice IMHO for corrosion reasons. And it might feed iron reducing bacteria in poor circulated areas....
