So true, San Francisco lifestyle is much closer to the American ideal concerning diversity than any state in the union. I’m somewhat encouraged by this election, not because the Democrat’s won, but because the system does work when everyone is involved.
The largest turnout of the youth vote in 20 years, 1/3 of evangelicals voted democratic, and the independents is what made the difference.
But we would be kidding ourselves if we thought that this was a vote for Democrats.
This was an anti war vote to change direction and the only way the dems won was to move to the middle. We are still a conservative country and the dems will have to represent all views to succeed. The good news is that the Religious extremists have lost their stranglehold and this may be a chance for the Republican Party to return to what Goldwater intended it to be.
I don’t expect any changes for gay people with the dems in office, but at least we will no longer have a group of people in power that use the gay issue to play into the hands of the Homophobes.

That doesn't surprise me about people knowing Ted Haggard was gay. this time the hypocrisy caught up with them
