SB's tumor was almost certainly proneural upon mutation to GBM. 13% of GBM is proneural. Proneural non-gcimp (more rare still) is the least likely to respond to current therapies, and even Dr. Liau and Dr. Prins agree with this regarding DC therapy thus far. Strangely enough, proneural non-gcimp is typically slower growing and thus gives patients more time. Ironic because it’s therefore harder to study because it takes longer, and thus the comment about desperately needing surrogates to PFS comes more into focus, particularly because proneural is much more common in youth.

All that said, Senti is probably correct that SB's tumor was not properly preserved due to the emergency nature of things and SB's incapacitation at the time. The hospital likely preserved the tumor with paraffin.

Regarding SB's tenure at NWBO, Ms. Bayh and Cofer were hired before we knew the citrus haired president and his minions would win all three houses for his first two years. SB's political connections were probably not required over the last two years, and thereafter she was diagnosed with GBM -- after having a non-GBM glioma years prior.

Eventually, if SB's cancer started out as lower level glioma, then transitioned to proneural glioblastoma, if she lives long enough, it will likely transition to mesenchymal glioblastoma -- the latter stage of GBM, and provide better targets for DCVax.
