This is about "re-review." They likely have what they need for OS, almost certainly, but they "desperately need" PFS surrogates, and to do that, they need to get PFS right in this trial. The end is the perfect time to do that -- as Doc pointed out the regs on that. It could help many trials in the future.

I applaud their efforts. I hope they are done with their re-review of PFS.

LL talks about it to a private audience, the Journal talks about it publicly, but NWBO says nothing. Why? It's not a state secret? The internal timeline should also not be a state secret.

And do not forget they have already broken the blind on everybody (or at least 2/3) who has progressed by looking up shipping records.

I disagree with you on this point. They may know patient xyz had his DCVax-L vaccines shipped for treatment, but they don't know if patient xyz is treatment or control.

That same SNO presentation closed with LL noting that DCVax was feasible and safe and "there is a significant subset of long term (> 3 year) survivors that warrant further investigation". Not exactly a ringing endorsement of a trial being a success.

I wouldn’t read too much into LL’s phrasing here. Great scientists tend to let their data talk for them, at least among peers. Watson and Crick titled their paper, which arguably kicked off the modern era of biology, “A Molecular Structure of Nucleic Acid.” Catchy. They ended the paper with this show stopper: “It has not escaped our notice that the specific pairing we have postulated immediately suggests a possible copying mechanism for the genetic material.”

The night after they had figured out the structure of DNA, in a pub while drinking in celebration, Crick announced that they had figured out the secret of life.

Time to go home and sleep it off, Mr Crick!

Edit: it was at lunch in the pub, not sure which version is better
