It's a metaphor. in replacement of any moment, though it doesn't fit in our case, tsunami is another, and I question that one also, after seeing the recent tsunami that killed 1500 people and left a trail of destruction in its climax. It is just a post, see it as you like, take it for what it's worth. It becomes almost incessant, hearing it over and over.
