Now we have no gm. "Management" (Jeff) has clearly stated Callaway will be back no matter who the new general manager is. That fact and that statement clearly show that in Jeff's eyes we don't need a general manager. Has there ever, ever been a professional sports team that lost a general manager that didn't almost immediately appoint an interim gm? Why haven't the Mets? Because Jeff is the gm.

It's like firing Callaway then saying the pitching coach, hitting coach, and bench coach will finish the season as co-managers

I agree that minor league selection and coaching have been absolutely the pits. But Jeff doesn't care about that because he doesn't have a long term view and the minor league system doesn't generate income for the Mets. Jeff's only concern with the minors is to generate interest in players who are soon to be called up so attendance rises when they arrive. It's obvious now that all the talk about Rosario and Smith was hype.
