Gernee, Nidan, Mac, All -

You make a point that the Alzheimer’s Association - an international organization with a purported common goal - should be the ONE entity with sincere scruples.

But, didn’t it seem the least bit odd to anyone else watching this unfold that this organization has SPONSORS which are in fact some of the very companies which present at these conventions? (A red flag - conflict!)

And when I called out the fact that a PLATINUM SPONSOR - highest level of paid sponsorship was able to have its time slot changed in order to present right after us, with bogus data, did common sense rule the day or hope and naïveté? (Not anyone specifically - the general masses)
Most were hoping for an increase in SP prior to the conference and a boost after with great news. BIIB - the platinum sponsor got that!

Coincidence? I said that would happen and there are no coincidences. I hope the blinders are off now.

I follow Jean Georges, Exec Dir of Alzheimer’s Europe, on Twitter. He hosts the European Conference and tweets a lot. You simply CAN NOT believe how “in the tank” this guy - responsible professional (?!) is for the BP’s.

Here’s an example tweet:

He praises Lilly for how quickly they shared their data about the failed Amyloid drug!

Their motto which he touts is “Care today, cure tomorrow.” Wtfh is wrong with this picture??? He wants to see ongoing “care” ie treatment of symptoms as opposed to a cure! Why not a cure??? Cause the ongoing symptoms drugs play right into the wheelhouse of BP’s.
Sad but true. I tweeted him what about Anavex’s results of stabilization at 47 weeks?
He tweeted back...Anavex who??

My blinders came off:(

It’s not muscle, or even intellect which wins in the end...it’s filthy lucar (money).

Here’s a refrain from an old Irish folksong which is as true now as it has always been through history. Mind you the Irish had the might, but were betrayed by their own people who were greedy and took bribes. Of course, it’s nature!

“The English STEEL (swords) we could disdain, declaring valor’s station, but English GOLD hath been our pain...
Such a parcel of rogues in our nation.”

I’d like to find the stage in which money doesn’t talk, and then present our science there. I do not think Missling is a rogue. Far from it!

But, the BP’s (culture of dishonesty - yes! - thanks nidan), FDA, ALZFORUM, Alzheimer’s Assoc, Alzheimer’s Europe...ALL BOUGHT AND PAID FOR. “Bunch of rogues, scoundrels, skulkers round the mountain, thieves, their souls are manacled to the Red Sea Bottom.”
- Yeats

Hopes for a better future for mankind,

Genee, you misunderstood. I was not happy with the content of AAIC response. I was happy they sent a nicely written professional answer. Sad to say it was content free" That was my concern and still is.

My response:

Thank you for contacting the Alzheimer's Association about our rapidly approaching Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC), which will take place July 22-27 in Chicago.

An important purpose of AAIC is to provide researchers from around the world and at every stage of their careers an opportunity to share their latest research discoveries, discuss their findings with fellow researchers and network with their peers. It is through forums such as AAIC that researchers develop collaborations that are essential to advancing the field.

Well in advance of AAIC, presenters are asked to provide an abstract summarizing the research to be presented. Each of the more than 5,000 abstracts typically received for presentation at AAIC is read and scored by multiple reviewers. This score is a key factor in determining whether the abstract is accepted for presentation. It is not feasible for all presentations to be vetted in full prior to AAIC, nor is it standard for scientific meetings to require such vetting.

Individuals presenting at AAIC well know that the study methods, results and conclusions they share will be heard by some of the leading scientists in the field and in the world. It is up to these and other scientists in the Alzheimer's scientific community to determine the merits of the research presented.

Best regards,

No one is watching the gate and the world looks at whatever is presented as gospel truth. The entire process is broken, IMO.
