It's hard to beat a strong market when everything is up. The payoff should show in less prolific years when sector selection is key. My biggest learning this year was to have more of my money in play instead of having too much parked in fear on the sideline. I have had higher percentage gains on certain selected funds but it didn't move the overall needle. This year 10% moved the needle.
