I've been stalking the stock for more than a year and in it for some time now, initially small amounts and now a good amount of shares, and I've never heard the company mention short sellers. This is a discussion that shareholders are carrying on.
As for "early stage" companies, if you've invested in these companies that get shorted down like this, usually because they have technology that someone wants to steal, and wants people to think is worthless, this is the common story, and they could spend millions of shares hiring the people you want them to hire, per year, and it probably would not change the story. It won't also change who is available to finance them at this stage either. The die is cast. These companies have a hard time getting funding anyway, unless they already have money being thrown at them because they are a fad or are "hot" at the moment. Car-T therapies are the hot girl at the moment, and everyone feels they've got to have their own "hot girl", so they are virtually all over valued and well funded. That will eventually shake out. But that is a function of excitement. DC Vaccines have had many failures. There is no hype for them at this time.
