Actually that's not correct, a name must be properly trademarked in order to be protected. I do believe that this name game is cluttering the board unnecessarily. If I were Missling I'd already have the name picked out and the appropriate domain names registered anonymously. Then the first time it's used in public it's ThisName(tm) which gives common law protection while full protection is filed for.
People "shooting the breeze" on a chat room do not have proprietary or exclusive rights to their chattering, including tossing out a suggestion to name a drug. Anavex can use whatever name it likes as long as it does not violate copyright, etcetera.
Anavex recently trademarked "Serpensoleum" so that's my guess for their first attempt. FDA often throws out the first names companies put forward but usually only if something else is too close and might be confused with it.
