They are expecting the merger to go through which we don't know with what type of company yet ... so yes I see this as "temporary" until then.

I read it a slight bit differently, but that is neither here nor there. Where does it say anything about anyone wanting too dump on the ask of .0002? Am I missing something here?

The way I see it there are no surprises of what will happen to this site after the merger or if merger fails for some reason. And even if merger were to fail doesn't mean another candidate couldn't be found.
