Junk bags of silver coins (not junk silver, which can be knives and forks, silver plate, etc.) are in many ways the best of both worlds, in that it is an investment in the bullion just as silver rounds are, without numismatic value, and with low markup over POS, but also a just-in-case hedge. If we do get hyperinflation, a la Germany prior to WWII, a thriving blackmarket will spring up where having different denominations of coins could be a distinct advantage. Good money chases out bad money, and if the dollar inflation gets really, really bad, I'd just as soon have some silver and small denomination gold coins to trade on the blackmarket in preference to taking a wheelbarrow full of dollar bills to the supermarket. But that's just me. . .
