When the market crash of 2008-09 hit, the democrats were in power in both the house and senate.

Per your graph, except for 2 years in the Senate, the reds were in control for the 12 years preceding the 2008 crash. In fairness, it wasn't republican's fault Clinton was stupid and corrupt enough to go along with their scheme to repeal Glass-Steagall and further deregulate futures trading in 1999.

Times were pretty good until they took control.

Yeah, things were so good it all came crashing down in 2008. Blues took control in 2009.

But hell, who knows how it will all turn out this time. Maybe the reds won't really cut taxes on the rich and deregulate wall street like they say they want to.

And maybe tomorrow pigs will fly.
