Here is the sentence from the UCLA gift of $1M grant announcement that nails it, in the middle of the article the author identifies the one specific approach of researcher Linda Liau and I quote
"A tour of researcher Dr Linda Liau's lab helped seal Gagliano's commitment. Her team has developed a novel vaccine that trains a patients immune system to recognize and destroy brain cancer cells, adding
years to the patent's life."
So when the article first states in more general terms "His generous gift will enable the UCLA Dept of Neurosurgery to pioneer new approaches to fighting aggressive brain cancer and enable more patients to lead longer lives". It is obvious that the author is talking about DCVAX explicitly in the middle of the article whereas earlier describing it in more general terms as a new approach, the author is being pretty darn accurate stating what it is imho.
I must add that the $1m I am certain would also be used for other approaches too as you mentioned if Dr Liau or Prins wanted it.
