DD:Could the Holdup Be IDCC itself?

Well I was thinking just in the last two days that one reason MIGHT POSSIBLY be (and I AM speculating here) that since IDCC holds 'essential' patents which are worth more than non-essential patents or patents for commercially attractive IP, that perhaps the deals are bigger and being negotiated to the hilt? If HG is correct about the 'engine and transmission' it is hard to imagine how people can get around IDCC even if they want to.

So maybe IDCC is hanging tough and demanding top dollar and no longer willing to accept crumbs and/or pennies on the dollar as people have accused them of?

To the extent that deals are being cut with others on 3G but systems designs are using IDCC IP, inevitably people have to cut deals with IDCC. Or be forced to pay. Either way. But this company has been leading us to believe in no uncertain terms that people need to use IDCC IP in 3G systems (at least 'true' 3G systems instead of various generations of 2G,2.5 G, 2.75 G etc.)

So maybe that is the hangup? Also please note that the long anticipated rollout of 3G has been delayed and delayed and delayed. And many use the term so loosely that they're not talking about 3G but just new generations of 2G variations.

It is only a matter of time. How much? I dunno. But time continues to march onwards. And our time for 3G will come. It IS coming. Soon.

IMO: The IDCC holdup is CDMA licensing..The existing Four 3G licensees of IDCC...NEC, Sharp, Japan Radio,Matsushita, all have CDMA included (Their CDMA sales are negligible if any at all)...Even IDCC's latest Licensee,RIM, is only for GSM/GPRS/EDGE, while they have CDMA sales and are licensed by Qualcomm...I believe we will see more licensees from IDCC..but only for GSM/GPRS/EDGE...The answer to further IDCC 3G licensing will occur when the "INDEMNIFIER" question is shortly resolved in IDCC's favor..IDCC will not license 3G WITHOUT CDMA being a covered item..
