Why not buy Intel puts if one believes it has a risk of going down because AMD or for that matter any other companies?

You can be skeptical about Intel, but "hedging" with some other company is not helping in my opinion.

Well one should always have a range of shares - but they should be in different sorts of things with little correlation rather than all in high tech for instance.
