This was all the discussions yesterday. Chinese market especially consumer is not in great shape. This revenue shortfall will affect all parties involved in supplying parts to Apple that includes TSMC and Samsung.
In fact Apple earnings would be worse if not for cheaper components cost on memory and flash.
Implications of all this will be known in the coming weeks.

Such things do not happen often in the industry, and I do think it will be a long time before we see the next "big" thing. Smart Watches, VR goggles, and self-driving cars will probably not be it.

100% agree! Simple but true. I think this whole car project is going to be a big flop. That's just not Apple (and the car business is low margin anyway).

I dunno, maybe I'm just reading the sentiment wrong, but I get the distinct vibe that a lot of people on this board want to see Apple fail because they're still bummed out over the negative impact that the growth of mobility has had on Intel's business & long-term prospects.

I have been a shareholder until spring last year, but I expected this run to come to an end. Cooling of the smartphone business on one side, smaller product improvements from Apple on the other side. A bad mix. iPhone 7 won't be as much of a success as iPhone 6 was. If Apple tries to tighten the price screw even more from there (1000$ for a phone, are you nuts?), I see lots of people switching camps or at least delay their update.
