We shall see,

the yankees have inconsistant pitching and so do we. Toronto isn't quite the team the other two are, although they can make some serious noise if Halliday and Burnett can be healthy the second half.

I don't see the wildcard coming from anywhere but the Central. If Detroit plays only .500 ball the rest of the way they are at 96 wins. I don't see them collapsing with the pitching they have. Ditto with Chicago.

The Red Sox have the schedule advantage and for me, the biggest advantage is they have all these young kids getting experience in the big leagues this year. I figured they wouldn't see a lot of action until next season, so that is all a plus. Not only that, but pitching is at a premium and it will be hard to trade for quality at the deadline without giving up premiere farm hands. I don't think Cashman or Theo are very eager to do that.

The Red Sox have Nixon they could trade as well as Tavarez/Seanez and a couple of position guys on the farm.

The Yankees have Huges and Tabata and would be crazy to let them go unless they are within 2-3 games at the deadline and could get premiere help.

The Sox could use another starter if Clement or Wells can not return and a middle reliever or two. The Yankees need a lot more, all that the Red Sox need plus a corner outfield bat or two.

It's interesting that no matter how poorly the YANKEES are playing, not too many people are willing to write them off - and they ARE playing poorly.

Yankees going to be out of the playoffs it looks like, but of course, we'll see what the big guy up top puts together as the trade deadline approaches...

Don't ya think it is quite early to say that?

Whole nother 1/2 a season to play.
Not only can they catch fire injuries can happen to any team.

On top of that what if they change the drug testing?
[Oh I know not in my lifetime. LOL!]

We may end up watching Little leaugers play. LOL!

Yankees were sub .500 this time last year and still won the division. Boston has been very hot as of late but they will lose their share of games to and will go into a slump as well. one 4 game slump while a yankee hot streak of 4 games in a row and it is all back to even again. Way to early to count them out yet.
