They remind me more of Gehrig and Ruth for the numbers they put up.

I can't believe their are people on royalrooters.com right now still advocating the Red Sox trade Manny for Shields and Ervin Santana. Throw in Kendrick and/or Wood and I would consider it, but even then, only during next off-season.

I don't think you can compare Ortiz and Ramirez to old time players because back then there was no DH.

Mantle may have played longer if he didn't have to play the outfield and I wonder if Ortiz would play as much if he had to play first base every game?

I don't know what his fielding stats are, but are they good enough that the Red Sox could play him every inning like they do now?
