Sigma's software uses off the shelf sensors. Honeywell a leader is designing and building sensors. Maybe they are creating better sensors the give more detail to the Printrite software, that could be a plus, if Honeywell would supply the hardware sensors for the Printrite software installs.

They also talk about monitoring the weld puddle characteristics and comparing each layer to the computer aided design model. This sounds like the same thing Additive Industries is doing.

He also discuses patents and patent infringement and ways to get around it. This is a little scary, hopefully Sigma's patents and agreements protect their idea adequately.

I don't have a lot of faith in corporate integrity and could see the big guys running over the little ones holding things up in legal battles until the little guys run out of money.

Yeah--it's not the first time Sigma's failed to stand up for their own hard-earned intellectual property. Remember when GE started using "IPQA" (without the ® symbol afterward) as if it was just an abbreviation, and not a trademark registered with the US government? And at least one of the posters here let Chris Witty know about it?

Result: When's the last time you saw GE use "IPQA" in a communication? If anyone found one I'd missed please let me know and we'll sic Chris on 'em again...

I can understand why Mark Cola and company don't want to put a strain on any working relationships they may have with Honeywell, Additive Industries, etc. but COME ON--if Sigma Labs invented it, the at least they deserve a mention BY NAME in the realeases by those companies who stand to profit by a technology not of their own creation.

IMO...
