#17978 RE: Dolly Llama #17966

Unfortunately it's fairly typical in most families...There are always the ones that are the care takers and then there are the ones that are the TAKERS...
Thank God I have a wonderful partner, cousins and my Mom's younger sister that live close by. It was rather sad to see so many of the old folks in this Assisted living facility with NO FAMILY, no flowers...nothing. My parents were far from perfect and in fact I always swore that I would never take care of them. But my partner told me when my dad was getting ill something that I will be eternally grateful for
" You have the rest of your life to be angry with your parents, now is not the time "
That piece of advice allowed me to forgive and during that last months of my Father's life I was allowed in to see what made him tick and it answered so many questions for me.
The last piece of advice he gave me is one I still laugh about
He looked straight at me and said " Son you are really going to miss me, cause now you will find out what your Mother is really like" LOL, LOL.. He ended with "Please take care of her"
As difficult as it has been to care for all of our parents,it's a wonderful gift to live the rest of our life with no regrets...
