here's another analogy for you: moving the goal posts.

We can agree on Cargo sales, though I think someone with the connections of Dr. Jones should have seen that coming... Based on your previous comments, I think you would agree with that.

The problem is, I'm not talking about cargo sales. I'm talking about all the pent up demand that was referenced in regards to passenger qualification. What happened to that? The one sale South Korea explains all of the pent up demand? I mean maybe he was referencing the TSA, but he made it sound like so much more.

To me, that is much harder to explain away. Hence the reason you ignored my previous reference to South Korea.

My recollection goes back further. When they were put on the approved list in early 2013, for cargo they said the 'floodgates would open' and made it clear they expected lots of sales to over 40,000 freight forwarders, and were in heavy talks with several of the largest ones. A few months later they basically explained the almost zero response by saying that apparently they were led to believe that sales were coming by the forwarders but the forwarders weren't really serious, as they never really expected them to become qualified since that was so hard to do. They then made is sound as though the sales pipeline, which they have previously indicated they had been working on and preparing for much of the prior year, more or less started all over again since nobody was really taking it seriously.

This is all BEFORE the 1/1/14 date. My take is either they were extremely naive at reading their market, or they really were concerned about keeping DMRJ happy and so they 'spun' the facts to make it look as hopeful as possible, and then dealt with the inevitable failure of follow-through sales later. I am not sure which it was, or if it was some of both. Desperate people do desperate things and sometimes cross their fingers hoping for the best. There is a price to pay though, and that's in lost credibility. And we are now seeing a replay of that with the poor response to the TSA uncertainty as well as a real sense of deja vu regarding the floodgates elsewhere in the world following TSA passenger approval.

The amount of the TSA award makes the 'other' sales really not as important -- POSSIBLY, but unfortunately that too is another muddy issue. 162? maybe, but seems unlikely. 45? maybe, seems reasonable. 21? maybe, probably not, but that's the only real number we see. Any, with protest thrown out? Most likely... Other sales? Floodgates open? Not so sure..Not sure about anything anymore. You get the drift..

you were not lied to. TSA changed the grandfather list.

They did not. The Ionscan 500 (later versions) and Itemiser DX were always going to be retained as qualified ACSTL products as I kept telling everyone for years despite all the fantasies peddled to the contrary at the time. Of course investors were misled by the fantasy huge cargo pipeline that never existed.
