I'm not an expert on camera phone technology but there has to be a solution on Japanese phones that allow the user to want to use that feature more than others and if a product in Japan can accomplish scanning a barcode successfuly on a camera phone there is no reason they can't export that product and most likely will in the near future.

The trend will make it's way to Europe and then the States. Patience is required.

RO - Maybe I am missing something of great importance here, but it appears to me that you are simply stating the following:

Photographers, and camera buffs and the like will spend large sums of money on a quality name brand 5/6/7 megapizel digital camera (these are coming down in price), but why would anyone, say the younger crowd, want to spend $400. to $800., on a 5/6/7 magapizel digital cell phone, when all the popular college crowds, simply just want a cheap camera phone picture, fuzzy or not, of several different apartments to jog their memory of which to rent, fuzzy bar codes reflecting book stores, and other stores with cheaper prices, etc, etc.

While I can relate to your message or assumptions (I think), regarding the pros and cons of cost effective quality, consider for a moment, "what if Quality aleady costs less, in a cheap camera phone, than the outlandish price I paid 2 years ago for a name brand digital mega pixel camera on the market at that time.

I am also a camera buff, and I wanted a good digital camera to play with on my computer. I have grandchildren, you see, and I want those sweet little faces to have good pixels! In 2006, my expensive digital camera is obsolete! I can buy a name brand digital camera with greater pizels, for $300./400., less than I paid 2 years ago.

"What if, this technology is so advanced (maybe by Mabot), that there are cheap camera cell phones out there that can do the same thing or better with greater pizels, than my expensive $700. - $800., digital camera can do.

Would you buy the cell phone?

Will I toss an $800. 4 pizel digital camera, for a $100. 7 pixel camera cell phone? You bet (less clutter in my purse)!

Maybe there would be a $25., camera cell phone with 4 pizels which would satisfy me or some college or highschool kid.

There are named brand digitel cameras with 2 or 3 more mega pixels capability, costing $300./400., less than I paid for a 4 or 5 pixel digital camera. Is this what we are trying to get across to this board?

If better quality costs less, due to advances in technology, who would not elect to own it? Does Mabot have a method of producing it? I think we are going to take another look/see.

Just my opinion - If I have misunderstood the message you are trying to get across - restate the issues a little clearer, and I will take another "go at it". I appreciate your assistance in helping to educate us.
