Don't forget, you can sell IDCC after a buyout is announced and before the deal is closed. It may cost you the difference between the buyout price and the stock price, but it may be worth it to get out early, in the event of some complications.
I would wait it out on the announcement of an initial buyout offer, hoping someone might come in with a higher takeover bid, causing perhaps a buyout war.
You can cash out of some of the shares and hold the remaining on a stock swap, paying taxes only on the amount you sell. (Unless all shares are in an IRA type account that is not taxable.
Loop, What you write here is logical and fact based...I must admit I do wonder WHY IDCC was not acquired prior to now. Intel bought a chunk of patents and others kicked the tires a coupla years ago when IDCC put themselves out in the market to be sold. Without proof I wanna attribute collusion anti trust style to the situation but hesitate because they do have some majors signed up. So now you have made a prediction that makes sense. I just hope it makes us $. We shall see. Good luck and Merry Christmas to all.
